Model Train Electronics Guide
Find recommended electronics for Pocket Railway Museum models and your other model train builds. This page includes practical part suggestions, links to help you source them, and an interactive soldering guide to make assembly easier.
Although this guide is built around the kinds of components we use for Pocket Railway Museum projects, many of these parts are also suitable for model railway builders working on their own locomotives.
Recommended electronics
Here is the list of parts that can make your models come to life.
You will find the recommended microcontroller, motordriver, motor, LEDs, etc..
Good to know
Some links on this page are affiliate links. That means Pocket Railway Museum may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. We only include parts that are relevant to our own builds and useful for model train builders more broadly.

Interactive Electornics guide
We know that the most dificult part of completing a project is the electronics. To make it easier than ever before, we have created an interactive electronics guide that helps you through all the steps of soldering the parts together and completing the electornics circuit.
Before you solder anything together, we recommend programming the Wemos D1 V3 Mini. We have provided a short video on how to do that.
After that, you can try out our interactive guide below. This guide works best on computers, but perhaps it also works well on some mobile devices.
Please not that this is al very experimental. Any feedback is more than welcome! Feel free to contact us about it.
